The 880 Desktop is a self-contained version of System80's 880, originally developed for the modular Eurorack format. The 880 is a recreation of the iconic 1980s analog drum machine. Nothing less, and a bit more.

The Sounds

All the voices of the original, carefully recreated with the original circuitry: sixteen analog instruments with global accent.

Eleven outputs for processing individual voices plus a summing mix output with volume control.

Electronic switching of the dual voices allows toms and congas to be triggered on different steps of the same pattern.

The Sequencer

While adhering closely to the original workflow, the 880's sequencer has several modern enhancements, such as shuffle and roll modes, and expanded pattern memory.

The TR-style sequencer can program patterns up to 64 steps with 12 banks of 16 patterns. Patterns can be easily linked together to create Rhythm Tracks to compose complete songs.

New Functionality

Modern upgrades include external MIDI triggering of drum voices, and flexible external sync via MIDI, DIN Sync or clock pulse.

The two trigger outputs can be assigned to any of the instrument tracks, including Accent.

New performance features include mutes and solos.

Availability

The 880 Desktop is hand assembled in our Toronto workshop, which naturally limits production quantity.
